The Nike Book 1 Arrives in “Ashen Slate”

Getting a signature sneaker with Nike is a dream for many young athletes. Unfortunately, for the majority, that dream remains just that: a dream. But for Devin Booker, that fantasy is now a reality, as his first signature sneaker, the Nike Book 1, is starting to hit shelves.

For his first sneaker, the Phoenix Suns’ All-Star guard wanted something that was built for performance but also had a lifestyle appeal. With that in mind, Booker found inspiration in older Nike Basketball models like the Air Force 1, Blazer, and Air Jordan 1, as well as vintage cars like his beloved 1972 Chevy Blazer K5. The result is a retro-futuristic basketball sneaker that works just as well off the court as it does on it.

The latest colorway of the Nike Book 1, dubbed “Ashen Slate,” is set to land later this month. The upper features a combination of rugged workwear canvas, premium suede, and perforated leather materials, all done in the titular “Ashen Slate” color. Padded canvas tongues bear Book-logo branding in “Safety Orange,” while layered pull tabs bear a nod to Booker’s birth year via “96” text. The back of the pull tabs read “Chapter One,” inspired by the spines of leather-bound books.

Down below, the “Ashen Slate” Book 1 features white foam midsoles, which house Zoom Air units in the heels for extra bounce. Translucent rubber outsoles wrap up the first chapter with a bang.
