Reebok Re-Introduces The 'Mobius Collection'

Reebok’s Mobius collection, a series of aggressively-designed models with bold shapes and usually in half black, half white color blocks.

"This is my planet." That was the slogan used for this strong and bold 1994 Reebok basketball concept. The collection featured a series of wild designs titled Shaqnosis, Big Hurt, Kamikaze and The Blast. Hiding within the archives of sneaker vault history, we had to dig for this information. Upon solution, I found this 1996 Reebok Mobius Collection commercial that I'm sure even Reebok couldn't remember. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9-6EQMdG5A Set out to be a polarizing design, the design team at Reebok sought for a silhouette that attracted as much attention as possible. You either love it or hate it, but the diversity of the collection was and is extremely hard to miss. The nebulous and ambitious campaign introduced an individualistic pitch, both for athletes and sneaker heads. The original campaign, which broadcasted in print, interactive and retail, carried the theme "This is my planet." Reebok and its agency, the Leo Burnett Company in Chicago, wanted the ads to salute consumers for attributes such as dedication and competitiveness rather than simply because they buy Reebok's athletic footwear and apparel.

"It's about preparing to win, to understand what it takes to get there and wanting to align yourself with the brand that understands that," said Dave Ropes, senior vice president for integrated marketing at Reebok in Stoughton, Mass.
