Jordan Preps a Double Dose of “Rare Air”

It’s not every day that we get a new Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG colorway, let alone two. But that’s the case with Jordan Brand’s latest pair of Retro releases. Both dubbed the “Rare Air” Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, this men’s and women’s pairing comes just in time for spring with designs inspired by some early Air Jordan 1 samples.

The men’s version comes clad in premium white leather with “Deep Royal Blue” leather overlays. The ankle collar flaps are done in white leather as well, resulting in a look similar to that of the popular “Union” Air Jordan 1.

The ankle collar sections are done in “Neutral Grey” suede, while the rubber midsoles appear in a faux-vintage “Sail” color, giving it a pre-aged look. On the ankle collar flaps, stamped Wings logos bear “Nike Air” lettering instead of the typical “Air Jordan.” The look is capped off with “brush-off” Swoosh overlays, which will fade over time.

Conversely, the women’s “Rare Air” Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG features a “Sail” leather upper with matching suede Swoosh overlays and ankle collar panels. Pops of “Cinnabar” on the laces and lateral ankle-collar flaps break up the tonal look, as do the “Deep Royal Blue” tongue labels and Wings logos on the medial ankle collar flaps.

Together, this two-colorway pairing celebrates the happy mistakes that were made on Jordan Brand’s path to creating the most recognizable basketball sneaker of all time. Now that’s some “Rare Air.”

Will you be looking to grab a pair or two? Both “Rare Air” colorways will be available on Saturday, April 5th, in-store and online at DTLR.com.
