DTLR Community: Gyrls in the H.O.O.D. Foundation Giveback Event

Healthy, Optimistic, Outstanding, and Determined – these are the core principles of the Gyrls in the H.O.O.D. Foundation, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization run by founder Chez Smith. The nonprofit addresses the needs of young Black women through various programs centered around sexual and reproductive health and community service.

This month, the foundation held its grand opening event, during which the organization encouraged community members to stock up on groceries, clothes, shoes, and household items through various givebacks.

During the event, we showed up to surprise community members with donations of baby items and groceries, as well as apparel and footwear from DTLR. We also brought volunteers to provide help to anyone that needed it. We then presented a check to the organization to recognize the importance of the work being done in the community.
