Cornell Wears the Crown Mad Miles Founder Puts the “C” in Community

It was January 1, 2019, and Cornell Jones had just one goal – to run one mile a day. Challenging himself to practice consistency, the journalist and feature producer stayed committed to completing the daily mile– he had no idea this action would change the course of his life.

Inspired by his dedication, Cornell’s friends soon challenged themselves to run alongside him each week. Capturing the energy of their runs on social media, the group quickly gained the attention of curious peers, fitness enthusiasts, and the local press. Naming the run club Mad Miles, Cornell became adamant about creating inclusive spaces within run culture that welcomed runners, walkers, and entire families to experience the joy of community.

Expanding its team to include event production, community engagement, and operations staff, the Mad Miles brand has grown exponentially while pushing fitness boundaries and bending the rules of run culture. From incorporating dance and race events into the Mad Miles lineup to launching the More Than Miles Scholarship program, Cornell continues to imagine the possibilities. Having succeeded at curating safe and supportive spaces for runners of all paces, he is a true game-changer worthy of the community crown.
