A Closer Look at the Air Jordan 1 'NC to CHI'
Published:October 02, 2020
It’s impossible to think about sneaker culture without the existence of the greatest pair of sneakers, the Air Jordan 1.
However, it almost didn’t happen. Jordan spent his entire college career playing in Converse Pro Leathers and was dead set on signing with the brand after the conclusion of his college career. Fortunately for everyone involved (including sneakerheads), Nike won Jordan over with the promise to make him the face of his own brand. The fact that you’re reading about an Air Jordan sneaker close to 40 years later proves that Nike made good on their promise.
The latest Air Jordan 1 Retro to hit the shelves pays homage to Michael’s memorable career not only as a Chicago Bull but also as a North Carolina Tarheel. Jordan spent three seasons at UNC under coach Dean Smith and brought home an NCAA National Championship trophy as a freshman. Scooped up by the Bulls as the number three overall draft pick in 1984, Michael’s career and legacy were just beginning. He would go on to win six National Titles with the Bulls along with six NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Awards.
On this pair, the black leather uppers are accented by powder blue heels and swooshes along with a gym red toe box. White outsoles create a nice contrast atop red outsoles. Logo wise, you’ll get both the historical “Wings” logo on the sides along with the Nike “Air” logo on the tongue.
Fellas, you already had your chance at these as this release is just for the ladies. They’ll retail for $170 and are set to drop on February 14th making them the perfect gift for that special female sneakerhead in your life.
